Otaru Music Box Museum
|
Along the Ironai Street,
there remain a lot of historical structures built from the mid-Meiji
period, the Taisho period, to the Showa period. The main building of
Otaru Music Box Museum is constituted by two structures: one is made
of red bricks and the other is made of stones. This was constructed
as the headquarters of the leading rice dealer in Hokkaido in 1910.
The museum is occupied by the music box world with
exuberant dream, stocking over 25,000 items, including glass music
boxes suited for Otaru.
On the first floor, you can buy various kinds of
music boxes, including the music boxes with luxuriously-decorated jewel
cases and cute accessories. We also handle gour originalh music boxes,
such as the music box with the motif of the gsteam clock,h which symbolizes
the museum.
On the second floor with the stone-built warehouse,
you can buy relaxing items, including toreutic and champleve music
boxes and aroma lamps. On the second floor made of red bricks, there
are high-class music boxes produced in Japan and Switzerland. You can
see music boxes that play beautiful melodies, which can be said to
be artworks. There is also the must-see gdioramah that allows you to
view the history and background of music boxes.
On the third floor, you can buy music boxes whose
tunes can be selected.
At the worldfs largest music box store, you would
be able to find your favorite one. |
